In my experience as a sound designer, I've learned that a good sound designer possesses a deep understanding of the physics of objects — how they move, interact, and their composition. Cultivating a refined taste is crucial, and it can be developed by studying and analyzing the works of esteemed industry professionals. In this field, traits such as being non-confrontational and consistently offering fresh ideas are highly valued.
As a sound designer, it's imperative to articulate and justify the purpose of each sound. Sound design plays a pivotal role in shaping characters, evoking mood, and accentuating actions — whether to accelerate or decelerate perception. Collaboration with the team is essential, and aligning with their vision is paramount for success.
